PETER and CAROL KING

Drawn to Fishers Island Sound by sailing, Peter and Carol King moved to Noank, Connecticut in 1992 after Peter retired from a career in international banking, and Carol from an art museum in Westchester County, New York.

Peter was born in Malaysia, and was educated in Australia and England. He began his banking career in England and left for Nigeria in 1959. Carol was born in Meriden, Connecticut and the day after graduating from Brown University in 1963 began Peace Corps training for her teaching assignment in Nigeria. Carol and Peter married in a remote town in northwestern Nigeria in 1965. They have two daughters who were both born there, and twin grandsons five years old, and a new grandson.  We are happy to report that the twins and the new little chap seem to love sailing.

Peter began King Yacht Charters, Inc. in 1993 as an independent sailboat charter agency specializing in the Pacific, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and Europe, as well as the Caribbean. The Kings organize individual as well as group and club charters, both bareboat and crewed. With personal sailing experience in the Abacos, BVI, St. Martin, Belize, Scotland, Finland, Greece, Balearic islands, Italy, Turkey, Africa, Seychelles, Maldives, Tahiti, Tonga, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand Australia, we feel particularly capable of assisting charterers plan a special trip.

This will be our 10th year in association with Cruising World magazine, planning Cruising World’s popular Adventure Charters. The Kings have taken over 1400 Cruising World readers to such exotic sailing destinations as the Maldives in the Indian Ocean, New Zealand for the America’s Cup, Tonga, the Aeolian Islands of Italy, New Caledonia in the far South Pacific, a catamaran sail from St. Martin and St. Barts to the British Virgins, the Seychelle Islands, “Sailing with Elephants” in Southern Africa, Fiji, the Balearic Islands of Spain, Finland, Tahiti, Scotland and Australia.

In addition, Carol and Peter have organized bare boat and crewed charters in such places as: Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti, Thailand, the Balearics, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Italy, Maine, Scotland, Italy, Sardinia, France, Corsica, England, the Chesapeake, Pacific North West, 7 sailing safaris “with elephants” in Africa, BVI’s, Bahamas, Caribbean, Finland and the Sea of Cortez.
